Biography

Mostafa Bagheri currently holds the position of Senior Robotics & Control Engineer at Johnson and Johnson, where his primary focus lies in the development of the Ottava surgical robotic system. In addition to this role, he has previously served as the Chief Technology Officer at NXT Robotics Corporation and worked as a Roboticist at Vicarious AI. He completed his Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering at UC San Diego in 2019 and currently serves as an instructor at California State University, East Bay. Mostafa has extensive academic experience, having worked as both an instructor and a research assistant at the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University (SDSU). Moreover, he engaged in research activities as a graduate researcher in the Department of Advanced Robotics at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), explicitly contributing to the WALK-MAN humanoid robot project in 2014. His remarkable accomplishments have been recognized with the prestigious 2011 Best B.Sc. thesis annual award in mechanical engineering presented by ISME. Mostafa’s research interests encompass a broad range of subjects, including robotics, control theory, delay systems, adaptive control & identification, and extremum seeking.
